Intermediate Work Zone Safety Certification

 

This course provides training in the proper selection of work zone types, installation, maintenance and removal.  It also includes inspection, liability, documentation and details of what work zone devices are used for and how to most effectively utilize them.

 

Successful completion of this course authorizes the individual to make changes to the work zone while providing them with a background for accountability.

 

Modules include, liability and Risks, Human Factors, Manuals and References, Work Zone Types, Duration and Component Parts, Temporary Traffic Control Devices, Work, Flagger and Pedestrian Safety, Building WZ Skills and Mobile Ops, Making Adjustments, Law Engoercement in Work Zones, TTC Figures and Documentation.

 

Basic Work Zone Certification is not a prerequisite; however, it is helpful to the new individual to the industry.

 

The successful candidate will achieve a 4-year certification as well as a 4-year Flagging Certification

 

The student should achieve a passing grade of 70 on the 50-question open book exam.

 

A copy of the Pocket Guide is recommended for the student while taking the course as well as practical usage after.  These can be purchased from ATSSA here.
